This site belongs to Van Dyke Saddlery & Stock Horses LLC, 757 Highway 14 East, Sheridan, WY 82801. This page explains what we collect when you visit, sign up for our newsletter or get in touch, and what we do with it.
The short version: we collect very little, we use it only to run the business and understand how the site is used, and we never sell or rent anyone’s information.
When you get in touch
If you email or call, we keep what you send us — your name, your contact details and whatever you tell us — so we can answer you and keep track of saddle orders and school places. It stays with us.
The Musings newsletter
If you sign up for Musings, we collect your email address, and your name if you give it. The list is run through Flodesk, which stores it and sends the emails on our behalf. We use it only to send you the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave whenever you like.
Visitor statistics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are read, roughly where visitors are, what kind of device and browser they use, and how they found us. It uses cookies to do this. We look at the totals, not at individual people, and we don’t use it to identify you.
Google processes this data under its own terms — see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser. The site works the same either way.
Buying a course or merchandise
Nothing is sold on this site itself. Online courses are sold through Teachable, and merchandise through Shopify. When you buy, they collect your payment and delivery details under their own privacy policies. They share with us what we need to run your course or order, such as your name and email address. We never see your card details.
Videos, fonts and hosting
Videos. The videos on the School and About pages are YouTube videos, embedded in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Nothing is sent to YouTube until you press play; after that, Google’s privacy policy applies.
Fonts. The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google sees your IP address when it does.
Hosting. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from Musings at any time, and you can block or clear cookies in your browser. If you’d like to know what information we hold about you, or want it corrected or deleted, email [email protected] and we’ll take care of it.
This site isn’t aimed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If what we collect changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top of it.
